The new academic year of 2018-19 has got off to a busy start at college. I continue the programme leadership of our university-level RQF HND in Computing; this is a higher education course equivalent to the first two years of degree study. For the first time I am also leading the new NQF BTEC Level 3 IT programme as course coordinator; this is an A-Level equivalent further education programme over two years that is intended for school leavers who want to prepare for work or university. Although this is my first leadership role at a further education level, I have been teaching and assisting in the running of level 3 IT since I started lecturing in 2010. I am continuing in the subsidiary role of ILT Champion which I started in August 2016; this role involves the training and supporting of staff with IT technology to aid teaching, learning and assessment. This year I am also overseeing the administration of the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) programme cross-college. Furthermore, I also continue executive responsibilities within the University College Union (UCU) branch within college; I am treasurer, E&D officer and also attended college board meetings know as the Joint Liaison Group (JLG). I have been on an unprecedented journey since I started working in education and am now the longest serving member of the IT department at New College Stamford.
